In the fall of 2007, a group of Indigenous singers and songwriters came together to write a theme song rooted in traditional knowledge with mainstream appeal. Over a three-month period, writers, singers and musicians wrote and recorded Sit By My Fire. The result was a brilliant cross-genre expression of respect and unity.

The planet is facing an uncertain future, now more than ever people are realizing the effects that our collective lifestyles have had on the earth. We believe the time has come when we must work together, learn from one another and work towards a brighter future for all living things.

Written by some of Canada’s top Indigenous songwriters, Sit By My Fire is the official theme song of The National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation and an invitation to the world to join us in a global movement to effect change, break down barriers and promote tolerance and understanding.
